The
Alex McGhie Fund Draw
The
fund has been set up to initially help Alex but it is hoped that it will
carry on in the future to provide for other special needs children. (Much like the HARPS appeal and other funds have been set up
and continue to help other families). Alex will need much help over the coming
years with specialist equipment and this fund will help to purchase such
equipment. He
was diagnosed with severe to moderate learning disability and Autism at
Guy’s & ST. Thomas’ Hospital, in May 06. His learning difficulty
is significant; at the chronological age of 2 years 5 months he has an
age equivalent to approximately 7 to 8 months. This is a gap of almost 2
years. It is not possible to make any definite predictions at the
current time but it is very possible that the gap between his
chronological age and age equivalent will widen as he develops.
This
Raffle is to raise money for the above fund.
PRIZE WINNERS
Here is the prize list from the raffle draw today. An amazing £1900 was
raised for the Alex McGhie fund. A huge thank you to everyone who bought
tickets, gave prizes and helped sell tickets and do the draw.
If you donated a prize please send it direct to the winner.
Many, many thanks.
Susie.

The Falkland Suite
The Falkland Suite is a new piece of music created especially for the Falkland Islands, inspired by the many aspects of the Falkland Islands in unique collaboration between the Music Department of the Falkland Island Community School and the composer Craig Vear.
It is hoped that 12 – 15 students will be involved in the musical aspects of the project and other students will be involved in the visual/media part of the work. The project will take place during half term (Sports Week) in 2005. The finishing touches will take place during the beginning of the following half term.
This is a huge project for the Community School and it is estimated that £7,000 will need to be raised to carry out the proposal.
If you can help in anyway especially with financial support please contact music teacher Shirley Adams-Leach on 27147.
It is hope that the finished work will be presented in international composing compositions and the unique Falklands Suite will also be used in an ambassadorial role for the Islands in the 21st Century.
Please give The Falkland Suite your Support …………. We will be raising funds for The Falkland Suite here on this site during August and September.
